Our Root Canal Specialists
What is an Endodontist?
An endodontist is a dentist with a minimum of two additional years of advanced specialization in treating problems inside the tooth – including the pulp which is made up of nerves, soft tissues and blood vessels.
One of the most common dental procedures done by endodontists is a root canal. A root canal involves removing the infected pulp from a tooth, cleaning and sealing it up.
Endodontists also carry out other services besides root canals. They treat cracked teeth and perform endodontic surgery and re-treatment. They use their special training and advanced technology (such as microscopes, ultrasonics and digital imaging) in treating difficult cases, such as teeth with narrow or blocked canals, or unusual anatomy.
The training, techniques and tools of endodontists have leaped huge steps forward in recent years. Getting a root canal treatment today is often no more uncomfortable than having a tooth filling.
