World Blood Donor Day 2012
Every second of every day, someone needs blood. Blood transfusions save countless lives, but not every patient requiring transfusion have access to safe blood.
Blood is often used for management of trauma-related injuries, pregnancy-related complications and childhood malaria complicated by severe anemia. In developed countries, transfusions are commonly used to support advanced medical surgeries and trauma care.
A single unit of blood can benefit several patients.
