Up, Close & Personal

What do you like most about your job?

I am a caregiver. I pride myself on the relationships that I build with my patients, and I make it my priority to provide them with the best care possible. As a dental hygienist, I provide much more than a debridement of a patient’s teeth during a 60-minute appointment. As a dental professional, I familiarize myself with the patient’s overall health history, medications, and allergies to incorporate into the care that I provide. I enjoy seeing the emotional reactions of my patients when they look in the mirror and smile happily at the result.

How do you see the future of dentistry?

There will be a lot of advancements in the future with the ongoing penetration of new technologies. Today we talk about augmented reality visors, so I imagine that there will be many discoveries in the future that could help professionals in this sector.

What are your hobbies? What do you like to do outside of work?

In my free time, I enjoy cooking, watching movies, playing with kids, and reading books.

What is the best advice you can give to your patients?

Always be involved and informed about your case. Part of being involved is asking questions. Continuity is the secret. Having healthy oral hygiene requires that you give yourself the proper ongoing care, time, consultation with the right specialist, and treatment as needed.
