17 May 2016, Dubai, UAE: Dr. Sosan had a chance to visit Al Fajr Nursery in Al Mamzar and talk to fifty five children ranging from 2 – 4 years old.
"Children are at risk of cavities and gum problems, and these are the two areas we focus on when we visit schools. The burden of tooth and gum diseases can be decreased with proper oral hygiene, right diet and regular visits to the dentists," said Dr. Sosan Fatima, our School Projects Coordinator.
Although it is largely preventable, tooth decay (aka dental caries or cavities) remains the most prevalent chronic disease in both children and adults. Millions of school and work hours are lost to dental-related illness each year.
"We started the visit with an interactive Q&A session. The kids had a chance talk about their teeth and oral hygiene, and I was able to talk to them about why it’s important that they keep their teeth clean. We proceeded with a video presentation and a couple of fun songs to get their energies up. Ï had an amazing time because they were all very curious and attentive."
"I performed dental screening for all the children aged 2 and a half to 4 years old, and ended the visit after a toothbrushing workshop for the entire class. Thank you, Al Fajr Nursery!"
