March 24, 2019, Dubai, UAE: Our Specialist Pediatric Dentist and Oral Health Speaker Dr. Rafif Tayara joins the expert panel on stage at the Parent & Child Well-being Conference held yesterday at Kings’ School Al Barsha.
The conference brought top experts in the region to talk about practical parenting, nutrition, building ‘resilience’, health and nutrition and cyberbullying.
Dr. Rafif talked about the importance of maintaining and treating oral health in children. “80% of UAE kids have cavities.”
”If you notice that your child is cranky, or has loss of appetite or is repetitively avoiding food, you should try to bring your child to a pediatric dentist. You’ll see that treating cavities and keeping your child’s oral health reflects in his/her well-being and overall health of the body,” she said.
She also talked about being mindful and vigilant of the food and snacks parents give their children.
“We have to spread awareness of nutrition or food labeling. Parents often come to me and say that I don’t often give my child sweets because I buy juices that are organic or 100% natural. Food labels could be deceptive and misguiding to the parents. Most canned juices have 5 or 6 spoons of sugar.”
