Dr. Michael’s Dental Clinic in Dubai Welcomes New Specialist Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Michael’s Dental Clinic welcomes a new Specialist Pediatric Dentist to its team. Dr. Rafif Tayara, DDS, CES is now seeing patients at Dr. Michael’s Children’s Dental Center.

16th July 2017, Dubai, UAE: Dr. Michael’s Dental Clinic, the leading and most advanced dental healthcare provider in the region, welcomes a new Specialist Pediatric Dentist to its team. Dr. Rafif Tayara, DDS, CES is now seeing patients at Dr. Michael’s Children’s Dental Center.

Dr. Rafif Tayara is a Specialist Pediatric Dentist with extensive experience in dental care for infants, children and adolescents. She received her DDS from Saint-Joseph University – School of Dental Medicine in Beirut, Lebanon in 2005. She also trained at Saint-Justine’s Children Hospital, Montreal, Canada and then completed her CSS in Pediatric Dentistry from Saint-Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon in 2010.

“A frequent misconception in pediatrics is that most parents think they should bring their child to the dentist when they are older,” said Dr. Rafif. “Parents usually aren’t aware that their child’s first dental visit should be done before or around his or her first birthday. This first visit allows the child to have what we call a Dental Home, a place where they can have us as their oral health provider for a lifetime.”

“Good habits start early in life and an early positive experience with us can potentially prevent oral health diseases, rather than treating them at a later stage. We’d like to think that the best treatment for children is no treatment at all.”

Her philosophy is built upon providing her patients with oral health education through positive and painless dental experiences. She believes that it’s important to start with building a strong relationship between the child, parent and dentist. Dr. Rafif treats every child in a unique manner and tailors their care according to his or her personality, culture and language. Through her individualized approach to each child’s oral healthcare, she establishes the required trust and achieves successful results.

“Becoming a mother of twins made my career so much more personal and meaningful,” said Dr. Rafif. “It made me understand the parents’ struggles because I have been in their shoes. Without question, the training my children have put me through as a mom has made me a better practitioner.”

When asked about patient education, Dr. Rafif said, “I am extremely passionate about educating communities and other healthcare professionals on oral health through public speaking, workshops in schools, media and healthcare sectors. As Early Childhood caries still stands as the most common chronic childhood disease in the GCC, I believe it’s my duty to promote awareness on every given opportunity.”

She takes pride in being an oral health educator to parents. She also acts as their active resource informing them of what their child might be experiencing and providing them with guidance on habits, home care, prevention, trauma and orthodontics.

She is a member of the European Association of Pediatric Dentistry, American Association of Pediatric Dentistry, Society of Lebanese Pediatric Dentists, Lebanese Dental Association, UAE Medical Association, Emirates Society of Pediatric Dentistry and she’s a medical credentialed Pediatric Dentist at Operation Smile.
